The Lincoln Swingers softball program was founded by Kay and Dick Reinmiller in 1969. Swingers Youth Services became a nonprofit charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code in 1991. Its primary goal is to enrich and enchance today's youth. The Swingers have sponsored competitive girls fastpitch teams in all age divisions composed of players from Lincoln, NE and the surrounding area. At the present time SYS has 3 teams, a 10 & under coached by Larry Feerhusen, a 14 & under coached by Kay and Dick Reinmiller and a 16 & under coached by Craig Dudycha.
About the Founders
The Reinmillers have devoted their time to girls softball for close to 40 years. During that time both Kay and Dick received the Jim Hall Award, Dick in 1973 and Kay in 1982. In 1991, Dick was inducted into the Nebraska ASA Hall of Fame. Kay was inducted in 2000.
In 1985, Dick was awarded the Gatorade Youth Coach of the year. He served as Lancaster County ASA Youth Commissioner for 9 years. In addition, Dick was a key individual in obtaining the land for the Doris Bair Memorial Complex in Lincoln and spends many hours maintaining the park. Dick was inducted into the ASA National Hall of Fame in 1994
Besides being a ball player, Kay has umpired and was director of Lincoln's City Recreation women's and youth softball leagues. She served as UIC for the Women's Class A Regional in 1997, and as tournament director for youth divisions of the Cornhusker State Games from 1986-1991. Other areas of involvement for Kay include being one of the founders and past Presidents of the Lancaster Youth Softball League (LYSA), and serving on the Board of Directors for Little Chiefs. Kay received the Lane Rowe Memorial Award in 1984.
